This is a hard to find “new” unused, signed, second printing of the first edition (paperback) of Dr. Spence’s book Treasures of the Confederate Coast: The real Rhett Butler & other Revelations.
Over 500 pages. Has individual chapters about Dr. Spence’s discoveries of the Civil War submarine Hunley, the Confederate “privateer” Georgiana, and the identity of the “real Rhett Butler.” This is an excellent book for reference or pleasure.
The bulk of the book consists of chronologically & geographically arranged entries giving detailed historical information (complete with references) on literally hundreds of individual Civil War era shipwrecks (many yet to be discovered and salvaged) in the waters of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. There are over one hundred B&W illustrations (maps, photos, prints).
Similar condition copies have been advertised/sold on Amazon.com for over $50.00. This book’s cover was changed after the first printing, which is how you can distinguish this as the second printing of the first edition.
